SUMMER - POEM BY RUTH CHUA

  Summer

The aroma of summer

Drifts beyong the fields.

The daffodils and sunflowers

Sprouting eagerly under the fir tree's shield.

Squirrels and rabbits and Sameryhoods

Chattering excitedly among themselves

Chasing and hopping amidst the woods.

O, summer, everyone is ready for your arrival.

When a soothing wind blew across the trees

Like fingers tickling your face.

The coldness of winter ceased

For dear summer defeated winter

And returned in triumphant.
