Adventure Under the Moonlight

"Tim! I can't sleep!" whispered Richard, rolling and turning on his bed. "Woof." Timothy the Golden Retriever barked softly, knowing he mustn't wake the farmer and his wife up. "Can you come and have a walk with me in the woods? We'll return a few minutes later." Richard said. They got up and tiptoed to the farm door. Shep the German Shepherd dog heard them and barked softly to Timothy, "Going on a moonlight walk with Richard? Can I come with you? I'm longing to stretch my leg and run around!" "Yes, if you like, Shep." Tim replied.

Soon, a boy and two dogs began to wander around the woods. Tim pricked up his ears. What was that? Some kind of miserable whine! He thought. "Eeeeeeeeeim! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeim!!" the curious sound rise up again. Tim stopped. "Come on, Tim! Follow on!" Richard cried. The dog won't budge and inch. Surely there's someone crying for help! Tim listened again. "Shep, did you hear that?" Tim barked to Shep. There's no reply. Tim look around and stared. No Shep! Where on earth have Shep gone? Tim Stopped again and gave a little whine. "Buck up, Tim! Come to heels!" Richard scolded Tim, "If you keeps stopping like that I'll never take you out for a walk again!" Timothy wandered away. Silly Dog! He must be mad! Richard murmured.

Tim followed the whining sound and he came near to a place where hunters set their traps. "Eeeeeeeeeeeim!" the sound became louder and louder. "Woof. Woof Woof!" Tim barked. "Eeeeeeeeeim!!" the voice continued. At last Tim came to a plain with a lots of hunter traps. Why did the hunters set their traps in this kind of place? Tim made his way carefully across the traps and step on something soft and furry. "Grrrr.." Tim growled. "Eeeeeeeeeeeeeim!" the voice came below Tim's paws! "Goodness, it's you, Shep! How did you get here?" Tim cried in surprise. "I got trapped in this dreadful spiky clip while I chase an enormous fluffy rabbit!" Whined poor Shep, "It's hurting me dreadfully! Help me to open this clip and I can have my legs out!" Tim tried to gnaw and chew the metal clip but nothing happened. "I must get help from Richard and the farmer! I can't do it myself!" cried Tim, "Wait here for me while I fetch Richard here, Shep!" And off he ran to the farm.

"Woof. Woof, WOOF!" Barked Tim. He ran up to Richard's bedroom and barked like mad. "What's up, you naughty dog? What? NO! No more walks now. Naughty Dog!" Richard scolded Tim. Tim's ears dropped down and whined. He tugged at Richard's cloths and gave a little bark. "I said NO MORE WALKS!" Richard scold poor Timothy again. Tim haven't give up. He gave another barked and pulled hard at Richard's bare feet. Richard feel like Tim's going to show him something. "All right, all right. I'll follow you. But if you show me some nonsense, I shall smack you." Richard said.

Tim led Richard to the plain where hunters set their traps. "Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeim!!" the voice startled Richard. What was that? Richard thought frightfully, Surely it's not owls or rats! They don't sound like that! They walked to a little rabbit hole and Richard saw Shep. "Shep! Shep! Why are you here? How did you come here?" Richard asked while trying to undo the spiky clip, "Stay here, Tim, I'll go and get Daddy here. Hang on, Shep, I'll be as quick as I can!" He raced to the farm and woke his father, Farmer Johns. "Dad, Dad! Come with me! I'll explain why later." Richard cried. The farmer stood up and yawned, "What, my boy?" "Just come with me, Dad!" Richard said impatiently.

Richard pulled his father's hand and came to Shep. "There, Dad, help me to undo this trap around Shep's feet, his legs got trapped." Richard shuddered. He poured out the story to Farmer Johns while opening the heavy clip. "There you are, Shep, your legs are free." Farmer Johns said. They carried Shep back to the farm and bathed the dog's bruised feet. Richard went back to his bedroom and yawned. Where's Tim? He thought, Maybe he thinks I'm still angry at him! He went to the kitchen. Aha! There's Tim, with his ears dropped down and a sad face. "Tim! Come here! I'm not angry at you, I'm proud of you!" Richard whispered, "I want you to cuddle up on my feet!" Tim was overjoyed. Both Richard and Tim have a nice sleep and they all dreamt about hunter traps, trapped dogs, and rescuing dogs.
